Lancaster LGBTQ+ Coalition

October 13, 2023

Join us Nov 12 from 5-7 PM at Tellus360 to Celebrate Four Years of Lancaster LGBTQ+ Coalition! 🌈

On November 12th, we proudly commemorate the fourth anniversary of Lancaster LGBTQ+ Coalition, and we invite you to share in our excitement! For the past four years, this vibrant coalition has championed equality, diversity, and inclusivity in Lancaster’s community, fostering a safe and accepting environment for all.

Donations made to the Coalition during this time will go toward our United Way Level Up & Launch Grant; we encourage the community to support our work. IMPORTANT: We will not receive your donation UNLESS YOU MAKE SURE to check the box marked “Apply this gift to your preferred Level Up & Launch fellow” and select “LGBTQ+ Coalition” from the drop down list!

Here are just a few reasons to celebrate our four-year milestone:

  1. Advocacy: Lancaster LGBTQ+ Coalition has been a relentless advocate for our community. Through DEI training, public awareness campaigns, and educational initiatives, we have been instrumental in ensuring LGBTQ+ rights and protections are upheld and forwarded in our area.
  2. Supportive Community: By hosting regular social events, peer groups, and collaborative opportunities, the Coalition has actively fostered a strong sense of community. Our efforts have provided a vital support network for LGBTQ+ individuals, helping them feel seen, heard, and embraced.
  3. Education and Awareness: The coalition has played an integral role in promoting understanding and acceptance in our community. We have organized workshops, panel discussions, and DEI training sessions for organizations and businesses to educate about gender and sexual diversity, breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive society.
  4. Solidarity: Throughout the past four years, the coalition has stood in solidarity with other social justice movements, recognizing the intersectionality of struggles. Our commitment to collaboration, mutual support, and direct action has strengthened bonds and created lasting change in our community.

Some Specific Initiatives and Achievements we’re Celebrating:

  1. Launch of Health & Wellness Clinic: The Coalition established a comprehensive health and wellness clinic that provides a range of services on a sliding scale, including mental health services, and HIV testing and treatment. This clinic has been successful in improving the overall health and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community in Lancaster.
  2. Design Award for The Loop: The coalition’s innovative headquarters, The Loop, was featured in AIGA Philadelphia’s Appear Gallery as part of Philadelphia Design Week for its unique and inclusive branding that caters to the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. The Loop provides a safe and welcoming space for members of the community to socialize, access resources, and receive support.
  3. HEART Program: The coalition launched the HEART (Health, Education, Advocacy, Research, and Training) program, which aims to provide housing, education, advocacy, and support services to the LGBTQ+ community.
  4. Name Change Clinic: The Coalition is working with local volunteer law professionals on a name change clinic that will provide legal assistance to members of the LGBTQ+ community who are seeking to change their names to align with their gender identity.
  5. Drop-in HIV Testing with Alder Health: The coalition partnered with Alder Health to offer drop-in HIV testing services, providing a convenient and accessible way for individuals to get tested and receive results quickly. This partnership has been successful in increasing HIV testing rates and improving access to care for those living with HIV.
  6. GDUSA Health & Wellness Design Awards: This year, we were also recognized with two Health & Wellness Design Awards by Graphic Design USA for our commitment to promoting the well-being and health of our community. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our creative team and volunteers.
